I’m Samantha Popham!
Creator and writer for The Sideline Secrets.
I am a tenured 6-year professional dancer in the pro sports dance and cheerleading industry. A little background about me:
Varsity cheerleader starting my freshman year of high school.
Created and danced for my high school’s first-ever dance team.
Created and danced for my college’s hip-hop dance team.
3-year National Lacrosse League Dancer.
3-year NBA dancer.
4-year professional dance instructor.
Teaching weekly pro dance prep classes to aspiring professional dancers in Denver, CO. ( Game Day at the Collabratory)
Creator and dancer for the Jewels Dancers.
Although I have made two of my dream professional dance teams, it was a tough journey as a I did not begin dancing until I was about 17 and did not grow up in the dance studio.
In my own audition journey, I found that I was navigating this process almost completely on my own. I did not have much personal guidance or insider resources to know how to make the teams that I dreamed of being a part of.
My hope with this platform is to shed light on the professional dance industry, providing guidance from my own journey and the stories of other talented dancers in our iconic dance world.
Whether you are looking for information on professional dance auditions, curious about game day tips, looking into our Jewels dance group, or looking for general dance resources - I am here to help make your journey a little shorter and a little easier. Everyone’s story and path is different, but if I can provide even one piece of guidance - my platform is doing its job.
There is so much that I know now, that would have made my dance audition journey so much easier. So that is my goal - to make your dance and/or cheerleading audition journey that much smoother!
